Apart from M&A, Damona has been supporting a wide range of international companies in their organic development through the search of suitable partners to either work together on one-off opportunities or to establish Joint Ventures/ long term collaborations.
For a large UK engineering firm, Damona has been shortlisting SMEs with similar capabilities to their client, in order to bid together on French projects. The approach was three-folds:
- Definition of a set of criteria from the client:
- Capabilities-fit
- Commercial opportunities
- Interest in collaboration
- Size range
- Cultural fit
- International ambitions
- Production of a long list of potential partners presenting key information:
- Business information such as owner, location(s), incorporation date, …
- Commercial information such as capabilities, main sectors, key clients, …
- Technical information such as deep dive on key resources, expertise, certifications, …
- Transverse information such as reputation within the industry, known appeal for partnerships, opportunity for acquisition, ethos …
- Production of a 2-page profile for each potential partner.
Once the shortlist of 6 partners was identify, Damona delivered a comprehensive report alongside a one page slide to be presented to the client’s EXCOM. Following this, Damona reached out to the selected companies and organised a meeting between the client and each one of the identified companies.
